The views from our corner balcony were just phenomenal, surrounded by the beauty of Amarante. We enjoyed a lekker breakfast, heaps of options, and great coffee. The staff were chommies, super friendly and helpful all the way through, especially when we needed a few local tips!
The bathroom design was a bit cramped, could definitely use a refresh.

charming, charming, charming
This hotel offers a Michelin-star dining experience that took my taste buds on a delightful journey with each innovative dish. I loved waking up to house champagne during breakfast while gazing out at the breathtaking views of the Tamega River. The beautifully maintained gardens provided the perfect oasis for relaxation, surrounded by the historic charm of the architecture.

Unfortunately, the rooms felt very dated and needed maintenance. the bathroom design left much to be desired, with a cramped setup that wasted a lot of space and outdated fixtures. On top of that, the lack of towels at the pool was a hassle, forcing us to trek back to reception for them—something you wouldn't expect at this caliber of a place. While breakfast featured a good selection, it took too long to receive cooked orders, which became frustrating. the accessibility around the hotel can be challenging, with steep paths and stairs that might not be great for everyone. Lastly, parking was a bit tricky with narrow, steep access roads that could catch you off guard.

The Luxury Room was massive and beautifully decorated, with stunning views of the Tamega River. I loved the antique furnishings that gave it a unique vibe. the air conditioning only worked at the lowest setting, which was a bit annoying. the bathroom felt a little cramped and could definitely use a refresh. But the overall aesthetic of the room was pretty nice.

Exceptional Historic Charm with Culinary Delights
Our stay was filled with elegance, from stunning views of the Tamega River to the exquisite Michelin-star restaurant, where each dish showcased the chef's creativity. The lavish breakfast buffet, featuring artisanal pastries and house champagne, was a delightful start to our day. The hotel's historic ambiance, with its grand palace architecture, truly set the stage for a memorable experience. staff service varied, with some service interactions feeling less welcoming than expected.

We loved lounging by the beautiful outdoor pool and strolling through the lovely gardens, soaking up the peaceful vibe. The only hiccup was the towel situation at the pool, as we had to sort it out ourselves, which was a bit of a hassle. Still, I’d recommend enjoying the breakfast buffet. it’s a fantastic way to start your day! ☀️
